I subscribe to the RSS feed for Webdesigner Depot and today I received a post that featured “Spectacular Fountains from Around the World.” And what I noticed is that many of them just looked like something a genre traveler would enjoy. So, I’m sharing those with you today.

Bayliss Park Fountain – Council Bluffs, Iowa, USA
To me, this looks kind of like a UFO floating above the fountain. What do you think?
Crown Fountain – Chicago, Illinois, USA
Is Big Brother spitting on or drinking from the crowd?
Electric Fountain – Denver, Colorado, USA
Are those aliens meditating in front of the fountain?
Fall of Atlantis Fountain Show -Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
Brightly lit gods and goddesses … what’s not to like?
Fort Worth Water Gardens – Forth Worth, Texas, USA
For some reason, this image calls to mind scenes from the 1980 TV movie version of Ursula Le Guin’s The Lathe of Heaven.
The Fountain of Wealth – Singapore
Doesn’t this kind of look like some large, elaborate beaming machine? Beam me up Scotty!
Horace E. Dodge and Son Memorial Fountain – Detroit, Michigan, USA
Part teleportation device, part UFO from the original The Day the Earth Stood Still film … don’t you think?
Julie Penrose Fountain – Colorado Springs, Colarado, USA
Is this how they hide Stargates in plain sight? Or is this a stylized ank from Logan’s Run?
People’s Friendship Fountain – Moscow, Russia
Another well done mythological fountain. And, in this particular photo with the looming dark clouds, I half expect these deities to step down and command obeisance.
Pyramid Fountain – Lima, Peru
If you stand beneath this fountain, will you experience the restorative powers of pyramids?
Ponte Dom LuÃÂs – Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal
I know these are supposed to be salmon, but they look like mechanical Jaws to me. Do I need to get a bigger boat?
Vaillancourt Fountain – San Francisco, California, USA
Maybe it’s because I see the world through genre coloured glasses, but this makes me think of a worm attack on Dune.
Volcano Fountain – Dhubai
I think I’ve found Ernst Stavro Blofeld‘s new lair!
