Summary
Although the detail of these coloring books are in alignment with the adult coloring book craze, the illustrations of Smaug the dragon, Balrogs, Hobbits, and Elves are suitable for all ages. A Bestiary of Tolkien: A Coloring Book focuses on the creatures of Middle Earth, where as Tolkien’s World: A Fantasy Coloring Book brings to life the characters and scenes of the famous tales.
What Worked for Me
The artwork is beautiful … so much you almost don’t want to color them! The paper is high-quality, so you could pull our your masterpieces and frame them, if that is your desire.
What Didn’t Work for Me
One thing I’ve liked about other adult coloring books is that the pages are perforated, make it easy to remove pages to color, and display it when I’m done. These books are not perforated, so you’ll either have to carefully cut the pages out or risk ripping them.
Conclusion
If you or someone on your holiday list is a Tolkien fan, this could make a really fun and creative gift. Whether or not the receiver of these books likes to color, they will enjoy perusing the black and white art anyway.

NOTE: Although I received this book free to review, that did not affect my opinion of the book. Read past reviews of books I’ve received for free and you’ll know I don’t hold my punches.
