Watch Out Creation … Here Comes Vulcan!

By Carma Spence

vulcan_events_logoI just saw this press release the other day: “New Sci-Fi Convention Company Vulcan Events Offers Alternative to Florida Fans

This could be good or it could be bad … it all depends on the conventions.

I’ve been to a number of Creation conventions, and although they are able to bring in the stars, they often lack the intimacy and community feel of the fan-run conventions.

Vulcan Events claims to be “making the commitment to deliver intimate conventions to sci-fi fans.” I hope that’s true. I could use some more good conventions to write about. :-)

“Having experienced other events, we know what works and what can be done better. Better is not good enough though. We are aiming for best,” says co-owner Fernando Martinez.

If you happen to go to their first con, scheduled for May 1 and 2 in my old stompin’ grounds of Tampa, Fla., please let me know what you think.
