We will be exploring the Pan-Pacific influences of Steampunk and Neo-Victoriana as we set sail west across the vast Pacific Ocean, before continuing on toward Polynesia seeking Vulcania, the secret location of Captain Nemo’s home port. On the way, we’ll stop in Hawaii to take in some of the local festivities and music. Prepare yourselves for Tiki-punk and a myriad of south pacific shenanigans done up in steampunk style! Adventure awaits!

Hosted by very active group of local steampunks who have over a two decades of convention experience, together with the San Diego Speculative Fiction Society, Inc. – a local non-profit corporation, we know Gaslight Steampunk Expo will be an amazing weekend for all Steampunk enthusiasts everywhere!

Some highlights of our event will include:

A Friday Night Social with Live Music

Saturday Night Tiki Ball – Fancy or Steampunk Dress are highly recommended as we sway the night away to the San Diego High Society Jazz Band.

A wide variety of themed workshops, special presentations, demonstrations, panel discussions, and more!

Tea dueling and tea pot racing with the immensely popular Madam Askew & Grand Arbiter!

A wide variety of vendors to tantalize your wallet!

An amazing hospitality suite with a selection of complimentary beverages and snacks!

Our Saturday Community Fashion show: Theme to be announced next year!

A Maker Room display of a variety of local 2D and 3D creations!

And most important, lots of opportunities to meet and socialize with fellow Steampunks and Neo-Victorian enthusiasts from across the Southwest!!!

Share your travels!

As The Genre Traveler, Carma Spence loves to view the world through Genre-Coloured glasses. In other words, she sees the world through a lens of science fiction, fantasy, and horror, where trash cans can be Daleks in disguise and neighborhood forests can harbor faeries and sprites. Magic realism is real! Or at least you can choose to see the world that way to add to the fun and awe of life.
