Then you might be interested in the annual Hugo Award Base Design Competition. Although the silver rocket stays the same every year -- identifying the award as a Hugo -- the base upon which the rocket is mounted changes with each Worldcon.
If you're interested, you better hurry with your design. It is due by midnight (MST) Dec. 31, 2007.

Yesterday, Mary Thurwachter of The Palm Beach Post, posted a rundown of all the Halloween special events taking place at Florida theme parks. She did such a good job of it that, rather than re-invent the wheel, I'm just going to send you along to her story:
If you're going to be in the area of Worcester, Pa., then you might want to check out the annual music and horror convention Rock & Shock.
"We are not like other boring horror conventions," claims their website. "We were the first to blend horror conventions with music. So while fans can meet their favorite horror film stars, directors, writers and bands during the day -- at night we have well-known national bands performing each night next door at The Palladium…That’s why this event is called Rock & Shock."
