R.I.P. Corey Haim

Corey Haim, shown here with Jamison Newlander (left) and Corey Feldman (right), died on March 10, 2010. One of his most well-known genre roles was from the vampire movie, The Lost Boys.

I just found out yesterday that Corey Haim died at the age of 38.

Corey’s genre roles included:

  • Stephen King’s Silver Bullet (1985)
  • The Lost Boys (1987)
  • Watchers (1988)
  • Fever Lake (1996)
  • Merlin (TV – 1998)
  • Lost Boys: The Tribe (2008)

He was often associated with his long-time friend, Corey Feldman, who he co-starred with in The Lost Boys. They were often referred to as “The Two Coreys.” They even did an A&E reality show together, The Two Coreys, which documented their lives for two seasons.

He struggled with drug addiction and once told People magazine, “”I’m a chronic relapser. I guess I always will be.”

How sad for this 1980s “heart throb.”

When did it end up the norm for actors, singers, you know celebs in general, to need to use drugs? And I am not even necessarily talking about illegal drugs, but drug treatments in general. How many talented folks are going to die at an early age simply because of this kind of behavior. I mean who wants to be a music artist these days? Certainly you will find popularity along with fortune, but you might pretty much knock about 40 yrs off your life!
