45th annual Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Horror convention in Tuscon, AZ. Attendees of TusCon are among the most dedicated fans of science fiction, fantasy, and horror and many attendees are professional writers, film producers, artists, and reporters who keep others informed about the goings-on in the industry.

TusCon is an annual science fiction convention sponsored by the Baja Arizona Science Fiction Association (BASFA), a Southern Arizona section 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization. The primary focus of TusCon is science fiction, fantasy, and horror, but we also pay attention to art, animation, science, media and gaming.

Every year, dozens of professional writers, artists, editors, performers, and filmmakers attend the convention. We invite you to attend the convention, especially if you are a fan of reading, writing, gaming, and generally having fun. Besides, we have a Cookie Fairy in our ConSuite.

What else does TusCon 45 offer? How about an Art Show, Panel Discussions, Vendors Room, Gaming, Round-the-Clock Video Room with Eclectic & Unusual Films plus Anime, Q&A with Film Makers, Science Presentations, Cosplay Fashion Show, Learn from The Pros, and So Much More!!

TusCon attracts between 300 to 500 attendees each year. Our attendees are an eclectic and diverse bunch, ranging from pre-teens to senior citizens. Income and education levels for TusCon attendees vary widely. The common denominator is a love for the written word, especially fantasy and science fiction.

Our Author Guest of Honor is Joe R. Lansdale, the author of more than forty novels and numerous short stories, including Paradise Sky, the Edgar Award-winning The Bottoms, Sunset and Sawdust, and Leather Maiden. He has received nine Bram Stoker Awards, the American Mystery Award, the British Fantasy Award, the Grinzane Cavour Prize for Literature. He lives in Nacogdoches, Texas with his wife, dog, and two cats.
Our Artist Guest of Honor is Dr. William K. Hartmann, a noted astronomer, author, and artist. He is senior scientist at the Planetary Science Institute in Tucson. He was an investigator on the Mariner 9 Mars probe which mapped the Red Planet for the first time in 1972. An asteroid (#3341) is named for him. He has written and illustrated several widely-used textbooks on astronomy, and also co-authored and co-illustrated five pictorial books of space art, The Grand Tour, Cycles of Fire, Out of the Cradle, The History of Earth, and In The Stream of Stars: The Soviet-American Space Art Book.

At TusCon, we do things a little differently. We have a relaxed, friendly atmosphere surrounding three days of fascinating events and up close and personal discussions with some of today’s finest Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror creators.

About the author

As The Genre Traveler, Carma Spence loves to view the world through Genre-Coloured glasses. In other words, she sees the world through a lens of science fiction, fantasy, and horror, where trash cans can be Daleks in disguise and neighborhood forests can harbor faeries and sprites. Magic realism is real! Or at least you can choose to see the world that way to add to the fun and awe of life.
